Syria

WHAT'S GOING ON IN SYRIA?

The Syrian conflict began in March 2011. It began as a peaceful demonstration calling for democratic reforms in the public square. However, the peaceful protests were met with swift government opposition, which eventually led to a brutal war. Eleven years later, the Syrian conflict has evolved into an ostensibly unsolvable crisis, leaving the nation scarred by terror and instability. Currently, at least eleven million individuals have fled their homes.

11 YEARS OF CONFLICT

To escape 11 years of intense conflict, millions of Syrian families have fled their homes. Over 6.5 million people have been compelled to seek refuge, primarily in neighbouring countries, and 14.6 million Syrians are still dependent on humanitarian aid. Families have lost family members, homes, and jobs. In many cases, they have no choice but to flee the country for safety, primarily to neighbouring Lebanon, Turkey, Jordan, or Iraq.
